CAT Exam Centers 2023: Exam in 160 Cities; More Tier-II Cities Added; Check State Wise Test Centers List
CAT 2023 exam cities have increased to 160+ from earlier 154 cities. Confirming this fact, CAT exam 2023 Convener and IIM Lucknow faculty Prof Sanjeet Singh has shared with MBAUniverse.com, “We are planning to conduct CAT 2023 exam in 160 cities” and added further, “Especially the Tier-II cities.”
CAT 2023 in 9 More Small Cities
Responding to the query, which are the new exam cities added to conduct CAT 2023 exam, CAT convener said, “Some of the new test cities this year are Hisar, Kangra, Chittor, Anantpur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Howrah, Sangli, Wardha, etc.”
As such CAT 2023 exam cities have gone up to 160+ and it is likely that there will be more than 300 test venues at these 160 test cities across the country. Many of the Delhi NCR cities are clubbed into one city like Faridabad and Gurgaon; Noida and Greater Noida among others. The applicants who are planning to choose Delhi, New Delhi, Noida, Gurugram. Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Panipat, Greater Noida and others, should choose any 6 preferred test cities carefully.
Key Changes in CAT 2023 Test City Allotment
Following exam cities are clubbed to one city, so make your choice judiciously:
- Noida and Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh are clubbed into one test city for CAT exam
- Faridabad and Gurgaon in Haryana are clubbed as one Test city for CAT exam
All out efforts would be made to allot the nearest test city to the applicant’s address. CAT 2023 test cities have been increased to accommodate higher number of test takers. The important details about the CAT test venues in these CAT test cities 2023 will be made available on the CAT 2023 website in August 2023. The name of the CAT test centre within the test city will be indicated in your CAT Admit Card.

CAT 2023 Test City Preference & Allotment Process
- Candidates will be given the option to select six test cities in order of preference
- Cities and centres will be assigned to the candidates only after the last date for CAT 2023 registration is over
- Candidates need not rush to block slots and cities in the initial days of registration
- Although IIMs try their best to assign candidates to their first preferred city, in case this is not possible, they will be assigned a city following their given order of preference.
- Candidates will not be able to select the exam session because it will be assigned randomly.
Few Delhi NCR Cities Remain Separate Test Cities
All the important cities in Delhi NCR, which were clubbed into one city earlier have been separated again. Now the CAT applicants from Delhi NCR can choose any six preferred test cities out of them. The cities avaibale for Delhi NCR candidates are:

Facility to Save Travel Time
Now a resident of Noida/Greater Noida or Ghaziabad may choose the test cities separately. This will help in reducing the travel time and inconvenience that was caused few years ago.
The wastage of time due to running and travelling to a CAT test centre in Delhi NCR stands reduced for CAT 2023. Finding that CAT test takers will be at loss, IIM Lucknow has taken the matter a bit seriously and has cleared the confusion. Now there are sufficient and clearly marked test city choices without creating any confusion.
